  26.     1.3 Installation
  27.  
  28.     Copy the complete CD disc to the directory c:\prescd
  29.     If your default drive is not c:\ then you will need to change     the properties field in WinOnCD the cdpres.toc file when     you write the disc to reflect the drive letter that you have     chosen, for example if you are copying the disc contents to     your  e:\ drive, change the properties field to e:\prescd

  31.     Remove the read-only mark from all files by  using "properties"     option in file manager.
  32.     
  33.     Set up a new printer driver by using the Windows Control Panel,     Printers selection, 
  34.     to add a new printer called < drive>:\prescd\mswin\cdi.drv as     the driver.
  35.     Connect this printer to 'File' (the default is LPT1).
  36.     Using the Control Panel, Printers, Setup, change the paper size     to CDI PAL LANDSCAPE ( or NTSC if creating a disc for viewing 
  37.     on an American TV) Then with the Control Panel, Printers,      Setup, Options move the intensity control bar to 75% light.

  39.     Exit the Control Panel and copy the file     <drive>:\prescd\mswin\dmcolor.dll to the c:\windows\system     directory.

  41. 2.0 How to Use This Software.
  42.  
  43.     2.1 Creating the presentation.
  44.  
  45.     Make a presentation in your favourite Windows package.
  46.     Take care to use a simple range of colours, and to use fonts     that are suitable for display on a TV screen (see Viewing     Presentation on a PC,     below).
  47.     Use a slide size format that will create an on-screen show.
  48.     The target image size is 768 x 560 in PAL (European TVs) or 768     x 280 for NTSC (American TVs) , but up to 20% of the screen     area is lost due to the fact that a TV over scans and some of     the image is effectively displayed 'around the corner' of the     tube. A few experiments should allow you to define the usable     area of the screen.

  50.     2.2 Converting to CD-i format

  52.     When ready, select the Philips Presentation CD as the default     printer and print the presentation to a file called         c:\prescd\qhy\pcd_qhy.com the default name that the CD-i     application requires.
  53.     Note that this file is overwritten each time a new conversion 
  54.     to CD-i is made.

  56.     2.3 Writing the CD-i disc

  58.     Start WinOnCD and select <drive>:\prescd\mswin\prescd.toc as     the new TOC for the disc.

  60.     NOTE - remember to edit the Properties field of the TOC file to     reflect the location of the \prescd directory. (F4 and change     directory) if you have not used the c:\ drive.

  62.     IMPORTANT-Please note that due to the nature of the CD-i     player,    you will need to create a disc of about 100Mb. Few     presentations reach this size, so a dummy directory called     \JUNK has been included to artificially increase the final     image file size.
  63.     If you want to save disc space by using your own padding files,     simply delete the directory     \JUNK and write your own     padding files directory as a second ISO XA-1 track after the     first     track.
  64.     Delete the volume label when selecting this second track.

  67.     Write the disc and finalise the session.

  69. 3.0 Viewing the Presentation on a PC
  70.  
  71.     If you want to check how the presentation will look on a CD-i     player, you can preview the converted slides using the tool     vpcd.exe, which is found in the mswin directory.
  72.     The viewed file is called the file pcd_qhy.com

  74. NOTE: to use vpcd.exe you must copy the pcd_qhy.com file to a directory called c:\prescd\qhy\

  78. 4.0 Defualt Presentation
  79.  
  80. There is a default presentation titled viewme.ppt on the root directory of the CD which describes the CD-i player and gives some hints on when your presentations would benefit from being shown on CD-i.
